Clifford Essex 5 String.jpg - This open back Banjo was purchased by its current owner approximately 40 years ago. He bought it as a used Clifford Essex 5 String just before the CE shop closed in London. We estimate the banjo to be around 60 years old.
Although it does not carry a Clifford Essex label but it has all the very high quality craftsmanship and fittings you expect from a Clifford Essex.
Our friends and experts from Clifford Essex have suggested Craftsman Marco Roccia, who was at Clifford Essex around that time could have built it or it could even be from Birmingham Makers, Houghton.
So, the banjo has a touch of mystique, but with its very high quality construction and fittings it and plays and sounds just wonderful. It is supplied with a fitted case.
